Vincent A. Irick Photographs, 1898 (VIS 39)
Photographer Jacob Ridgeway Moore documented Judge Spencer’s farm and the sharecroppers that worked there in 1898. The farm was located outside of Faceville GA and produced turpentine, had a saw mill, gristmill, and cane mill production facilities. The collection includes photographs mostly depicting scenes on Spencer’s farm of African American workers and children, many identified, captioned, or dated. Other images were taken by Moore’s nephew Vincent M. Irick and show Vincent’s family and friends, mostly taken in Vincentown, New Jersey.
The Vincent A. Irick photographs contain 90 black and white and cyanotype photographs, 75 of which are digitized and available on this database.
