Notes
Joe Lewis Parr (1917-1993) was born in Maysville, Banks County, Georgia, and moved to South Carolina in his early years. He attended the Georgia Academy for the Blind and the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. Parr was a blues and country artist, playing with both black and white musicians throughout the country in live shows and on the radio. He worked at radio stations throughout Georgia, including WSB in Atlanta, and WGGA in Gainesville. He died in 1993 and is buried in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Buford, Georgia.
