Notes
The rural-industrial community of Pine Mountain Valley was established by the Federal Emergency Relief Administration in 1934, and administered by the Works Progress Administration. The community was a New Deal project to provide relief from the economic effects of the Great Depression. People were relocated to the community and given homes and jobs in agriculture and industry.
