Notes
The United Methodist Children's Home was founded in 1871 by the North Georgia Methodist Conference and was the first orphanage opened by the Methodist Episcopal Church. Its' original location was on a farm in Norcross, Georgia but in 1873 the orphanage was moved to a smaller location in Decatur. The orphanage is still in use serving nearly 3,000 children each year.
