This collection is a series of letters from Lt. Francis Lawton Mobley to his wife, Rhoda Gaskins Mobley during his time of service during the Civil War. Mobley mustered into the 50th Georgia Company I, on March 4, 1862, as a junior lieutenant and was promoted to a full second lieutenant in June of the same year. On September 17, 1862 he participated in the Battle of Antietam and received a more serious injury. Mobley was sent to a makeshift hospital in Winchester, Virginia and died on October 9, 1862.

This collection contains images of residential, commercial, and governmental property built by this company in Atlanta, Chamblee, and Augusta, Georgia. Also included are photographs of the construction of Camp Gordon during World War I.

Raymond B. Nixon was a reporter, correspondent, editor and director of various newspapers and journals for over 60 years. This collection of photographs was taken by Harold J. Terhune and shows the christening of the ship the S.S. Henry W. Grady, the launch of the ship to sea, and various speakers and guests.
