Allen D. Albert, 1860-1958 (VIS 75)

Dr. Allen Diehl Albert, Jr. (1901 – 1972) was an infantry captain in the United States Army and also served as aide–de- camp to General Omar Bradley, Major General Levan Allen, and assistant executive officer to Major General John W. O’Daniel.  After World War IIthe war he accepted a job as Chairman of the Department of Sociology at Emory University. He later worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in the Public Relations Department for the Marietta plant, and served on the Atlanta Art Association and on numerous civic committees. The Allen D. Albert photograph collection includes family photographs of  images of Dr. Albert, his wife, and his extended family dating back several generations. The collection also includes images of Fort Benning, in Columbus, Georgia during World War II. The photographs include images of military drills and visits by British Field Marshal Sir John Dill and U. S. Army Chief of Staff General George C. Marshall.  The remaining photographs consist of images of Dr. Albert at events sponsored by various organizations to which he belonged.
